Description
The well at Stainrigg dates from the early to earlier 19th century and is a single-storey, circular-plan structure with classical detailing, located in the grounds of Stainrigg House. It is built of pointed rubble with cream sandstone ashlar dressings. There is a square-headed doorway on the southeast side, although the door is missing, and an inscribed rectangular panel is located above it. The well features corniced eaves, an ashlar blocking course, and a shallow, domed roof. The interior was not seen in 1998.
