Description
Nether Auchendrane House is a composite house that was built in stages during the 19th century, incorporating fragments of a 17th-century tower house that can be seen at the rear. The building features a Scottish 17th-century revival style, characterized by narrow crowstepped gables. It is finished in white harling with ashlar margins and is mainly three storeys high.
The entrance elevation includes tall twin-gabled bays on the left that are set forward and have a short balustrade over the roof valley, as well as end stacks. There is a castellated porch located in the near centre bay, with lower recessed wings to the right. The house has sash windows and slate roofs.
Inside, the interior is primarily from the 19th century and includes a cantilevered stone elliptical staircase and a timber scale-and-platt. There is also a leaded glass stair window featuring an armorial crest.
