Description
26 and 28 Barns Street in Ayr is an earlier 19th-century, two-storey, three-bay house that is part of a terrace. The building is constructed of coursed, squared sandstone and features a base course, eaves course, cornice, blocking course, and strip quoin on the outer right side only. The margins around the openings are painted at the ground level.
On the south (entrance) elevation, there is a recessed timber entrance door to the right, accompanied by a three-light letterbox fanlight above. To the outer right, there is a narrow slit window, and to the left at ground level, there are two single windows. The first floor has regular fenestration with plate glass timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered with grey slate and includes stone skews, coped stacks, and circular cans.
The interior was not seen in 1998. The property also features spear-headed iron railings.
