Description
29 Barns Street is a mid-19th century, two-storey, three-bay mirrored pair of houses that are part of a terrace. The exterior is finished in painted ashlar, with rustication at the ground floor. It features a vermiculated base course, a cill course at the first floor, a cornice, and a blocking course. The first-floor windows have aprons.
On the north elevation, there are steps leading to a three-column fluted doorpiece with timber doors and letterbox fanlights. Above, there are two single windows aligned at the first floor. To the left, there are bipartite windows at both the ground and first floors, while to the right, there are single windows at both levels and a small single window at the first floor.
The windows are predominantly plate glass timber sash and case, although the first-floor windows of No 27 are modern. The roof is covered in grey slate, with stone skews, coped stacks, and a polygonal chimney can on the right side only.
The interiors were not seen in 1998. There are spear-headed railings at the entrance steps, but the remaining railings are modern.
