Description

30 Pilrig Street is a mid to later 19th-century, two-storey and attic building that consists of a mirrored pair of houses, part of a larger terrace. The exterior is made of sandstone ashlar, which has been painted on the right side. It features a base course, a band course between the floors, and a corniced cill band at the first floor. The first-floor windows are round-arched, and there is a corniced eaves course and blocking course. The outer bays on both the ground and first floors are canted and consist of four lights, with decorative impost carving at the springing line of the first-floor windows. The central sections of the ground and first floors have capitals made of cast-iron colonette-mullions.

On the principal elevation, there are timber panelled doors with fanlights, set within mirrored corniced, architraved doorpieces that have carved consoles. The windows in the canted bays are located on the left and right, while the upper floor has regular fenestration in round-arched openings. The building also features two box dormers in the centre and bipartite box dormers on the left and right, all of which have segmental heads.

The windows are timber sash and case with plate glass glazing, and the roof is covered with grey slates. Gablehead stacks with terracotta cans and skews are present as well.

The interior was not seen in 1998. The boundary walls are low and made of ashlar with coping.
