South Lodge, Bellisle Estate, Doonfoot Road, Ayr

South Lodge, located on the Bellisle Estate along Doonfoot Road in Ayr, is an earlier 19th-century single-storey lodge designed in a T-plan with Jacobean details and later additions. The building is constructed from squared sandstone and features a base course and ball finials on the gables.

The southwest elevation, which serves as the entrance, has two bays. To the right, there is an advanced gabled entrance porch with a square-headed opening and a square plaque above it. To the left, a stone-roofed canted bay includes a plaque on the gablehead.

On the northwest elevation facing Doonfoot Road, there is a bipartite window to the left and a tripartite window in the gabled section to the right. A small arrowslit opening is present in the gable.

The northeast elevation, which is the rear, has two window openings in a lean-to structure. The southeast elevation features a single window on the outer left, two single windows in the gablehead to the left, and a small arrowslit opening in the gable. There are also two openings in a later advanced section to the right and a square-headed entrance to the lean-to on the outer right.

The lodge has timber windows, which are predominantly reinforced or boarded. It has a slate roof with stone skews, diagonally shafted stacks, and circular cans, along with cast-iron rainwater goods.

The interior was not seen in 1999.

The property is complemented by gatepiers and a boundary wall, which include two pairs of octagonal coped gatepiers topped with urn finials and curved wing walls.
