The Lodge, 53 Greenfield Avenue, Ayr

The Lodge at 53 Greenfield Avenue in Ayr dates from around 1829 and features later additions. This single-storey gate lodge has an asymmetric plan and is constructed from squared sandstone with harling on the rear. It has a base course and timber bracketed eaves with paired mutules.

The northeast entrance elevation showcases an advanced distyle unfluted Greek Doric entrance porch, which includes a glazed timber door, a letterbox fanlight, and flanking single windows with pentice porches above.

On the northwest side elevation, there is a single window with a pentice porch above. The southwest and southeast elevations were not visible in 1999.

The lodge is fitted with timber sash and case windows and has a slate roof with timber bracketed eaves. It features twin central octagonal stacks and single coped stacks at the rear, along with circular cans. The rainwater goods are made of cast iron.

The interior was not seen in 1999.

The property also includes square-plan gatepiers, a low coped boundary wall at the entrance, and spear-headed railings on top.
