Description

18th century, with 19th and late 20th century alteration. 3-storey and attic tenement with 2-bay gable to N, and partially-obscured 3-bay elevation to E. Harled E elevation, harl-pointed rubble elsewhere, with painted stone margins at windows.

N GABLE: near-symmetrical, paired panelled timber pilasters framing shopfront comprising shop window over stall riser at right, and panelled door with glazed upper recessed at left; frieze and cornice above. Regular fenestration at 1st and 2nd floors, gablehead altered to mansard form.

E ELEVATION: 3 bays, those at centre and left obscured by modern additions. Shopfront matching N elevation in bay at right comprising shop window over stall riser with flanking paired and panelled pilasters. Regular fenestration at bay above.

W ELEVATION: irregularly fenestrated at upper floors.

S GABLE: lean-to addition at ground, infilled openings at 1st floor and 2nd floor (at left).

Timber sash and case windows to original openings, 12-pane at 1st floor of gable, plate glass elsewhere. Grey slate mansard roof, segmental-headed metal-clad dormers with 4-pane timber sash and case windows. Stugged sandstone apex stacks with copes (original to S) and circular cans.
