Description

The Gate Lodge at Harleyburn House, designed by Brown and Wardrop and dated 1876, is a picturesque single-storey and attic structure in an L-plan layout. It features a small gabled projection at the re-entrant angle, which is intersected by a gabled timber boarded porch. The short arm facing the drive has a canted bay, constructed from red sandstone with contrasting dressings. The building has broad-eaved roofs and a central rectangular corniced stack. Surrounding the lodge are convex quadrant die-walls with a timber and railed fence, along with matching gates that have simple chamfered gate-posts.
