Description
The Entrance Lodge at Lanark Lodge in Bridgend, Duns, was likely built around 1860. It is a single-storey, L-plan structure located within altered entrance gates. The building features stugged, squared, and snecked cream ashlar with polished dressings and stop-chamfered reveals.
The lodge has a symmetrical entrance elevation, with a boarded door at the center that includes a letterbox fanlight and a gabled dormer head with a framed panel. This door is flanked by bipartite windows, and the end gables are blank. At the rear, there is a projecting gabled bay with a single window and a blind trefoil in the gable head. To the left, there is a pentice-roofed closet, and to the right, a flat-roofed harled extension.
The windows are 4-pane timber sash and case. The roof features crow-stepped skews and scrolled skewputts, covered with grey slates and coped ashlar stacks.
The gatepiers and wall consist of stop-chamfered square ashlar gatepiers with bases and pyramidal caps, and a rubble wall with semicircular coping.
