Description

The Southern Water Fountain in Allanton, dated 1875, is a Baroque cast-iron fountain set within a roughly squared and snecked sandstone wall that features rounded coping. The fountain includes a shouldered, round-arched niche with the date embossed near the top of the back wall and a handle, along with a basin beneath. The upper surround is flamboyant, adorned with cherubs playing instruments, flanked by foliage, and a mask-head at the center above.
