Description
The fountain located below and to the north-east of Upper Water dates from around 1900 and is made of cast iron set in a shallow circular stone basin. It is designed in the style of the Belle Epoque, and may possibly be of French origin. The fountain features a shallow basin supported by entwined dolphins whose tails hold up a further basin. It has a bulbous acanthus stem and stands on an octagonal plinth adorned with putti riding dolphins and blowing conches on projecting buttresses. Additionally, there are lion's masks on the subsidiary faces of the plinth.
