Description
The stable block located to the north-west of the Mansion House dates from the mid-18th century, possibly built around the same time as the alterations by Burlington. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features a hipped slate roof. The building has five bays arranged in a 2:1:2 pattern, with the central bay slightly projecting forward. This central bay includes an arched door set within an arched recess, topped by a lunette in the gable. There is a band that runs between the ground and first floors, which continues as a lintel above the central door. The stable block has plain doors on the ground floor and 2-light casement windows on the upper floor. The roof is adorned with two octagonal ventilators. The rear elevation showcases mullion windows. Historically, this building served as an estate slaughter-house.
