Description

The former stable block, now housing, was built in 1828 as part of Vale Royal Park. It is constructed of red sandstone ashlar and whitewashed brick, with a slate roof. The building has two storeys and a symmetrical, seven-bay entrance front. A central bay is gabled and slightly projects, with flanking wings to the left and right, also gabled and slightly projecting. The left and right wings have shaped gables, each containing a stepped 3-light window. Above the central bay is a 3-light window with a Tudor hood mould and a circular clock face within the gable. Moulded kneelers and coping stones adorn all gables. The ground floor has a blocked doorway with a pointed arch, which now contains a 2-light window. To either side are two windows set in chamfered surrounds that originally featured moulded mullions and transoms, and each has a Tudor hood mould.
