Description

The stable block, located approximately 18 metres north of The Old Manor House, dates back to 1696. It is constructed from yellow and grey sandstone ashlar and features a hipped plain tile roof that is lower over the wings, creating a shallow U-plan. The building is two storeys high and has a moulded plinth. It is arranged in a 1:3:1 bay configuration, with two-light double-chamfered stone mullioned windows. There is a central boarded door with a moulded surround, and to the right of the left-hand first-floor window, there is an inscribed oval-shaped sundial with a wrought-iron gnomon.

The left-hand return front includes one two-light stone mullioned window on each floor, while the right-hand return front has a blocked or blind two-light ground-floor window that is obscured by a later addition. At the rear, there is another first-floor two-light stone mullioned window. Inside, the ceiling beams show mortices for a former timber framed partition. There is a chamfered-arched recess in the left-hand side wall and a Tudor-arched blocked doorway or fireplace in the right-hand side wall. The interior also features 19th-century stalls and collar and tie-beam roof trusses.
