Description
The Stable Block, located 25 metres east of the Manor House, dates back to around 1670. It features walls made of Lias ashlar stone and a roof composed of tile and stone slate. The building has a T-shaped plan, with a range along the lane that may have served as the coachman's lodging and stables at right angles. It is a single storey structure with approximately four windows that have cross-transom mullions (two-light) adorned with ovolo-moulds, all framed by classical eaved architraves, a pulvinated frieze, and steep plain pediments, which have a gap between them. The central door showcases similar architectural details. To the right of the door is a carriage entrance. A clock face, corbelled out with a round head and set in a roundel, is inscribed with "J. N. Moore and Son, London, 14419." There is also a chimney stack on the rear eaves. The interior of the stable has mainly been removed. This Stable Block is comparable to the one at Mapperton House.
