Woodside Cottage (North Lodge), Blackadder Drive, Allanton

Woodside Cottage, also known as North Lodge, is a mid-19th century single-storey, three-bay classical lodge house that has undergone later additions and alterations. It is part of a pair of lodges flanking the eastern entrance to the Blackadder estate. The building features finely droved ashlar stone with polished ashlar dressings, along with line-rendered additions. It has a base course, cornice, and blocking course.

On the southeast elevation, there is a canted three-light bay at the center, with a window in the bay to the left and a boarded door in the bay to the right. There is a later blank rendered addition to the outer right and a rendered monopitch addition to the outer left, which includes a window. The windows are 12-pane timber sash and case. The roof is slate, and there is a brick stack at the rear, located at the center of the main building, as well as a wallhead rendered stack at the southwest corner of the outer left addition.

The interior was not seen during the last inspection in 1996.

The property also includes ashlar quadrants with a base course and coping, cast-iron railings with fleur-de-lys-headed shafts, and rendered brick square-plan gatepiers with pyramidal coping at the pedestrian entrance, which features a fine cast-iron gate.
