Description

West Lodge at Camis Eskan House is a single-storey rectangular lodge, likely designed by David Hamilton in 1840, with some modern additions. The building is constructed of ashlar stone with ashlar margins and dressings, featuring chamfered reveals, a base course, an eaves band, and advanced eaves supported by paired brackets, along with pilaster quoins.

On the north elevation, there is an advanced entrance bay with a shallow gabled porch supported by Doric columns. The gable features a blank shield, and the entrance has a modern door with a plate glass letterbox fanlight, flanked by narrow windows. The outer bays contain transomed and mullioned windows.

The southwest elevation includes a block on the left with a bow window at the center, flanked by two windows divided by pilasters. To the right, there is a slightly recessed two-bay polygonal block, and a modern timber and glass flat-roofed addition is set back on the outer right.

The east elevation features a gable that breaks the eaves over a transomed and mullioned window at the center, with a modern rendered lean-to garage block attached to the outer left.

The windows consist of plate glass and four-pane timber sash and case styles. The roof is covered with grey slate and has lead flashings, with central corniced sandstone ridge stacks topped with octagonal cans.

The interior was not seen in 1994.

The boundary wall includes a broad ashlar pier with a guilloche panel, a corbelled cornice, and a stepped cap. To the left, there are modern cast-iron railings, and to the right, a rubble dwarf wall with semicircular coping.
