Description

Drumfork is a villa located on Redgauntlet Road in Helensburgh, built in 1748 with early 19th century alterations and additions to the rear, as well as a wing added in 1989 to the east. The building is two stories high with an attic and features a symmetrical five-bay façade, along with a single-storey wing to the east. The exterior is rendered and linted to resemble ashlar, with raised, droved ashlar and painted margins and dressings. It has a base and eaves lintel course, quoin strips, and splayed reveals around the openings.

On the south (entrance) elevation, there is a later boarded timber porch at the center, which has pilastered angles and a cornice. This porch features two-leaf panelled doors and two-leaf deep-set half-glazed vestibule doors, with a first-floor window above. Flanking the porch are paired windows at both the ground and first floors. There is a square dormer located off-centre to the right, and a canted bay on the later wing.

The north (rear) elevation includes a window at both the ground and first floors to the outer right, and a two-storey block that advances to the left. The west face of this block has a central window at both the ground and first floors, with a window in a recessed bay at the first floor to the right. The north face of the advanced block also has a window at both levels, and there is a wallhead chimney stack.

On the west (side) elevation, there are no openings, but there is a chimney stack at the apex of a small central gable that breaks the cornice. The east (side) elevation features a window at the ground to the outer right, and three first-floor windows, consisting of a pair to the right and one off-centre to the left. There is also a chimney stack at the apex of a small central gable breaking the cornice.

The villa predominantly has four-pane timber sash and case windows, and the roof is piended and platformed, covered with grey slate.

Inside, there is a scale and platt stair with a timber balustrade.
