Ardshiel, Main Street, Allanton

Ardshiel is a mid-19th century terraced house with later additions and alterations. It is two stories high and has three bays. The exterior is cement-rendered, with whinstone and sandstone rubble on the south gable and part of the west elevation. Features include a base course, rusticated quoins, and Tudor hoodmoulds above each opening.

On the east elevation facing the street, the bays are grouped one and two. There is a modern panelled door near the center bay, which has a letterbox fanlight above it, and a window above the door on the first floor. There is a window in each of the flanking bays.

The west elevation is not fully visible as of 1996. There is a single-storey addition in the bay to the right, featuring modern timber-frame glazing, a slate roof, and brick mutual stacks. The skews are coped ashlar with a skewputt to the south. The interior was not seen in 1996.
