Description
The Commercial Inn, located at 7 Bowmont Street in Kelso, is a former pair of separate properties dating from the early 19th century. The building is two storeys high and features four bays, with the outer bays enlarged to bipartites at both the ground and first floors. The façade is rendered with ashlar margins and has a swept angle to Bowmont Street, with straight skews. The roof is slated.
To the west, there is an earlier 19th-century structure that is three storeys tall and has three bays. This section includes a modern garage opening on the left side of the ground floor. The ground floor is rendered and lined to resemble ashlar, while the upper floors are constructed of coarser rubble with rendered margins and a cill-course at the first floor. This part also features straight skews and a slated roof.
