Description
40 and 41 The Square in Kelso is a building dating from around 1830. It is a four-bay, two-house block constructed of painted polished ashlar. Originally, it featured a Tuscan pilastrade at the ground floor, with shops on either side of a central door. The shopfront at number 38 still exists, although it is partly obscured by a modern fascia. The central door has a fanlight above it, and there is a modern shopfront at number 40. The first-floor windows are also present.
