Bon Accord Hotel, 3 Market Square, Melrose

The Bon Accord Hotel, located at 3 Market Square in Melrose, consists of two parts built in different periods. The west part dates from the earlier 19th century and is two stories high with two bays. It features a rendered exterior that is lined to resemble ashlar, with painted ashlar margins and quoins. This section has a segmental-bowed projection with a tripartite window on each floor, alongside a pilastered doorcase with tripartite windows above it to the right. It also includes an eaves-band, a moulded cornice, and a blocking course, with straight skews and a rectangular end-stack on the west side, topped by a slated roof.

The east part, built in the later 19th century, is also two stories tall but has three bays. It shares a similar rendered and lined ashlar appearance with painted ashlar margins. This section features a central door, with a modern shop to the right on the ground floor. The openings have chamfered margins, and the straight skews are topped with a slated roof, while the rectangular end-stacks have been rebuilt in brick. The two parts were formerly separate properties.
