Gordon Arms Hotel, 118-122 High Street, Elgin

The Gordon Arms Hotel, located at 118-122 High Street in Elgin, is a large building consisting of two linked properties that date from different periods and exhibit different architectural styles, but are unified by their white rendering. The ground floors feature modern shops.

The property on the left dates from around 1800 and is four storeys high with five bays, featuring a central entrance. The windows on the first, second, and third floors are regularly spaced, with the exception of a modern canted bay window on the right side of the first floor. There is a cornice between the second and third floors, as well as at the wallhead, which has a blocking course. A central panelled wallhead stack is present, along with an end gable stack and quoins on the left side. The roof is slate.

The property on the right is dated 1888 and is three storeys tall with three bays. It features a canted bay window at the centre of the first and second floors, which are flanked by pilasters. The building has channelled quoins, a cornice, and a cill band between the first and second floors. It also includes a frieze, a dentilled cornice, and a balustrade adorned with ball ornaments and end dies. The centre has shell-headed pediments with a datestone, and there are end stacks. The roof is also slate.
