Description
The Market Cross in Market Square, Melrose, dates back to 1645 and was built to replace an earlier cross. It features a mid-19th century octagonal stepped base that supports the restored shaft and capital from 1645. At the top, there is a finial that has suffered some damage, which depicts a unicorn holding a mallet and a rose.
