Description
The Market Cross in High Street, Inverness, dates back to the late 16th century. It features a shaft that has undergone restoration and reconstruction by John Hinton Gall in 1900. The cross has a moulded base and sub-base made of blue and red granite, which is raised on three steps. Embedded in the base is a Clachnacuddin stone. At the top, there is a carved finial representing the Scottish unicorn, which supports the burgh arms, created by sculptor Andrew Davidson Rome.
