Description

Early 19th century. 2-storey and attic double-bow fronted former Custom House. Sandstone ashlar; rubble to side and rear. Base course; cill courses to ground and 1st floors; central band course; cornice; blocking course. Tripartite windows to bowed bays.

NW (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: step to central entrance; 2-leaf timber door; letterbox fanlight; blind window aligned above at 1st floor; regular fenestration to flanking bowed bays at ground and 1st floor (blind to inner sections of ground floor windows). Canted dormers to outer right and left at attic.

SW (SIDE) ELEVATION: blank gable.

Plate glass and 12-pane timber sash and case windows. Grey slate roof; rooflight; stone skews; brick gablehead stacks; circular and polygonal cans.

INTERIOR: not seen 1998.

BOUNDARY WALL: low coped boundary wall enclosing site to NW elevation; higher stepped boundary wall enclosing site to SE elevation.
