Balmanno House, 55 Bongate, Jedburgh

Balmanno House is an early 19th-century, two-storey house located at 55 Bongate in Jedburgh. The northwest elevation, which faces the street, features a slightly raised, three-bay entrance front that is harled with smooth cement margins. There are steps leading to the centrally located door, and the windows are arranged in a regular pattern.

The southeast elevation, which overlooks the garden, has a two-storey, four-bay front made of rubble with ashlar margins and regular fenestration. The inner right bay includes a gabled timber porch with a panelled door and three-pane lights on either side.

The northwest elevation is blank and harled. The house has 12-pane timber sash and case windows on the street side and 4-pane windows on the garden side. The roof is covered with grey slates and features terracotta ridge tiles on the porch, with flat skews.
