Description
The Pendstead, located on High Street in Melrose, was built in 1823. It is a two-storey, six-bay building featuring a segmental-headed pend at the center of the ground floor. To the right of the pend, there is a stone fore-stair that leads to the upper floor. The building is constructed from coursed squared rubble with droved dressings and has a slated roof with rectangular coped ashlar end-stacks. There is a small modern cat-slide dormer in the attic on the north side. The structure also includes rubble with stugged freestone dressings and bears the name Peddie.
