Description
The Royal Bank of Scotland, located at 88 High Street in Lanark, was designed by Peddie and Kinnear and built in 1876. This two-storey building features three bays and is constructed of ashlar stone with rusticated quoins. The façade includes a marble plinth from the 1930s and scrolled piers that flank the entrance. The central door is adorned with an architrave and a bracketed segmental pediment. To the left, there is a two-storey canted bay, while the right side has tripartite windows on both the ground and first floors. Above the door, there is a bipartite window with a bracketed cill. All windows are framed with architraves, and the outer bays have apron panels beneath the first-floor windows. The building is topped with a bracketed cornice and has a piended slate roof, with a stack located on the west elevation.
