Description
The Kings Arms Hotel, located on High Street in Melrose, is an earlier 19th century building that stands three stories tall with an attic and features four bays. The front is constructed of coursed squared rubble with droved ashlar dressings, including cill and band courses. There is a painted Tuscan columned doorpiece in the left-centre bay, with a door in the right-hand bay. The glazing at the ground floor has been renewed, but otherwise, the building has 12-pane double sash windows. It is topped with a moulded cornice and blocking course, has straight skews, and features a pair of gabled dormers in the attic. The roof is slated. At the rear, there is a long, single-storey former stable range.
