Description
The Queen's Head Hotel, located at 24 Bridge Street in Kelso, is a building from the later 18th century with some additions from the early 19th century. It stands three stories tall with an attic and features four bays. The exterior is rendered and includes an engaged Tuscan porch at the left center bay, rusticated ashlar quoins, and painted, chamfered, and moulded window margins. A cornice runs along the wall-head, and the building has straight skews and a slated roof that includes two piended canted dormers in the attic. The flanks are harled. At the rear, facing Abbey Row, there are inserted windows, and the central segmental-headed close entry has a pilastered doorpiece. The first floor features tripartite windows at the outer bays, constructed of painted rubble, and the building has a piended slated roof.
