Spread Eagle Hotel, 30-32 Bridge Street, Kelso

The Spread Eagle Hotel, located at 30-32 Bridge Street in Kelso, is an earlier 19th-century building. It features four bays and three storeys, with shops on the pilastered ground floor and droved ashlar on the upper floors. The first-floor windows are adorned with moulded architraves and cornices, while the second-floor windows have raised margins. At the top, there is a cornice with a blocking-course, and the roof is piended and slated, with brick stacks on the flanks.

At the rear, there is a block facing Abbey Row, dated 1809, which is three storeys high and constructed of painted harl-pointed rubble. This block has a central door at the ground floor with a modern garage opening to the right. The outer bays on the first and second floors feature bipartite windows, and the roof is also piended and slated.
