Description

Buccleuch House, located on Buccleuch Street in Melrose, dates from around 1830. This two-storey building features a five-bay symmetrical front made of droved ashlar with polished dressings. The central door is topped with a fanlight and a hood supported by consoles, with a tripartite window above it on the first floor. The house has a moulded cornice and a blocking course, along with a piended slated roof and tall rectangular end stacks that have cavetto cornices. There is a small central dormer with a platform roof in the attic.

To the west, there is a recessed, single-bay, two-storey addition that is harled and has a flat roof. On the east side, there is another recessed two-storey addition with three bays, constructed from stugged ashlar with droved dressings and a block cornice, also featuring a flat roof.
