Description

Craig Barr and Cook, architects, 1911-12. 2-storey, 3-bay with

advanced centre bay. Ashlar, channelled to cill band of

ground floor but rises to impost of architraved round arch of

doorway. Porch with 2 Ionic columns. Supporting entablature

with "Hugh Smiley Day Nursery" carved in frieze and block

over. Tiny sidelights with bracketted cornices flank porch.

1st floor centre bay has tall elaborately architraved central

window with ornate segmental pediment flanked by narrow sash

windows. Outer bays have tripartites: ground floor with

consoled cornice and pediments over centre lights, and 1st

floor with bracketted cills. Eaves cornice with blocking

course, raised at centre.
