Description
Wellbank is an earlier 19th century farmhouse that stands two storeys high with a first floor that breaks the eaves. It has a rectangular plan and features three bays, along with a slightly later, lower single storey and attic two-bay addition. The building is constructed of rubble with harl pointing, stugged dressings that have droved margins, and a slate roof. The windows are mostly four-pane sash and case, with gabled dormerheads on the south elevation and a leaded lattice casement stair. The eaves are bracketted, and there are linked corniced ashlar end stacks, although the centre stack has been rebuilt in brick, and the east stack is single.
On the south elevation, the original house is to the left, featuring a boarded door with a window above it at the centre, a small wallhead window above, and additional windows to the left and right at both the ground and first floors. The addition to the right has two windows on the ground floor and one central window on the first floor. The east gable includes a two-pane casement window on the ground floor right and an enlarged modern window on the first floor. The west gable has a window on the ground floor left. On the north elevation, the original block is on the right, with a blocked door to the left, a small blocked window to the right, and a stair window above. The later block to the left features a door at the centre.
Inside, the farmhouse has decorative cast-iron balusters at the landing and a box bed alcove located under the stairs.
