Description
North Ballo is an earlier 19th-century farmhouse with a later addition, featuring a single storey and attic. The building has a picturesque appearance with classical detailing on the south elevation. It is constructed from rubble, with some harl pointing, and has stugged and droved ashlar dressings, topped by a slate roof. The south elevation includes a base course, eaves course, and quoin strips, with mostly sash and case windows, bracketted eaves, and ashlar end stacks, while the addition has brick stacks.
On the south elevation, there is a door leading to a broad, slightly advanced bay with a pediment at the center, which has a diamond-shaped window with diamond-pane timber glazing. To the left, there is a recessed tripartite multi-pane window, while a similar window that was formerly on the right has been replaced with a single plate glass window. The elevation also features two gabled dormers with 4-pane glazing.
The east gable is blank, while the west gable has the original gable on the right with two 12-pane windows to the left and a blocked diamond-shaped window in the roof space. The later bay on the left is advanced and contains bipartite 4-light pane windows.
On the north elevation, there is a door and two windows with modern frames and top-hinged upper lights on the original house to the left. To the right, there is a later blank gable that is advanced and has a chamfered angle on the left.
The interior has not been seen.
