Ha-Ha To Nw And Se Of Hallyburton House And To Main Driveway, Hallyburton Estate

The ha-ha located to the northwest and southeast of Hallyburton House, as well as along the main driveway of the Hallyburton Estate, likely dates from the late 17th century or early 18th century. It is a rare example of a ha-ha, particularly notable for its exceptional length along the main drive. The northwest and southeast ha-has are designed to create a visual connection between Hallyburton House and its grounds, marking the boundaries of the pleasure gardens at both the front and rear of the house. The ha-ha along the driveway runs from the West Lodge towards the house to the east, following the serpentine path of the main carriage entrance. The rubble structures are mostly hidden by vegetation, and the driveway ha-ha features a semicircular coping.
