Hope Park Lodge, 74 Balmoral Road, New Rattray

Hope Park Lodge, located at 74 Balmoral Road in New Rattray, is a single-storey, two-bay gabled lodge built in the mid to later 19th century, with an extension at the rear. The building features stugged ashlar and squared rubble construction, with pointed- and shoulder-arched windows, corbels, chamfered arrises, and stone mullions.

On the west elevation, there is an advanced gable to the left of center, which includes a full-width canted window. The center light is topped with a quatrefoil moulding in a pointed-arch frame, and the flanking lights are surmounted by concave moulding that is corbelled to a square above. To the right, there is a bay with a pointed arch window leading to a dormer gablet.

The north elevation, which serves as the entrance, features a gabled porch with a window and quatrefoil detail similar to the west elevation, projecting at the center. There is a door on the return to the right and windows in the flanking bays, with the left window being enlarged. A low flat-roofed extension is located to the outer left.

The south elevation presents a plain gabled appearance. The building has PVC glazing throughout and is topped with grey slates that are banded at the ridge. A single tall brick ridge stack with cans is present, along with deeply overhanging eaves that feature decorative bargeboarding. The cast-iron downpipes are equipped with decorative rainwater hoppers.

The boundary walls consist of low saddleback-coped ashlar with inset decorative ironwork railings and coped rubble walls. There is also a pyramidally-coped square-section ashlar gatepier.
