Description
East Lodge House, located at Crieff Hydro on Ferntower Road, is a later 19th-century lodge that has been extended. It is a single-storey and attic structure with an L-shaped plan and features four bays. The building is constructed from stugged squared rubble with contrasting ashlar dressings, and it has a harled extension. Notable architectural elements include a pointed arch window and stone mullions.
On the north elevation facing Ferntower Road, there is a timber door with a plate glass fanlight in the bay to the left of the center. To the outer left, there is a window with a pedimented timber dormer window above it. The right side features a slightly advanced gable topped with a ball finial, which includes a canted window and a pointed-arch window in the gablehead, along with a further single window in a low lean-to bay at the outer right.
The east elevation has a window in the gablehead to the right, above two lower small piended projections, with the right projection containing a window in its return. There is a full-height lean-to extension on the left side.
The west elevation presents a gabled front with a small window in the lean-to projection and another small window in the gablehead above.
On the south elevation, which is the rear, there is a variety of openings due to alterations, including a flat-roofed dormer window and a four-part canted window on the left return of the extension at the outer right.
The windows throughout the building feature 4-pane and plate glass glazing patterns in timber sash and case designs, with top-opening timber windows on the west at ground level and some openings on the south. The roof is covered with graded grey slates, and there are coped ashlar and harled ridge stacks, some with polygonal cans, as well as ashlar-coped skews with moulded skewputts.
The property is enclosed by coped rubble boundary walls.
