Description
Park Lodge in Culross is a single-storey Jacobean lodge built in the later 19th century, with additional single-storey extensions added in the 20th century. The building features stugged snecked stone with ashlar margins, a base course, and a cavetto eaves course.
On the northwest elevation, there is an advanced gable on the left topped with a finial. The central feature is an advanced canted bay window with a tiered, conical stone roof. To the right, there is a narrow gabled section that is slightly set back, containing a central window that was formerly an entrance door, along with a stone plaque above it. There is also a window in the right return and a finial atop the gable. A further section set back to the right has a window in the centre, while a flat-roofed single-storey extension is located at the far right.
The northeast elevation is plain, with an extension on the left side. The southeast elevation features an advanced gable on the right with a round-headed niche and a projecting base near the apex, also topped with a finial. A section to the left is set back, but much of this elevation is obscured by the 20th-century flat-roofed extension.
On the southwest elevation, there is a central stack that is advanced on the southwest gable wall. A 20th-century addition extends from the southwest gable to the southeast.
Some original timber sash and case windows with horns remain, while modern windows have been installed elsewhere. The windows have chamfered margins, and the doors have been replaced. The roof is pitched and covered with slate, featuring raised chamfered ashlar skews and skewputts. There is a tall, corniced ridge stack on the southwest section with a shouldered base and a diagonally set square-plan stack, as well as a similar stack at the apex of the southwest gable.
The interior has been modernised.
