Description
Later 19th century, extended 20th century. 2-storey with attic and basement, 4-bay villa with bowed entrance bay and finialled jerkinhead-roofed dormer windows, sited on ground falling sharply to W. Bull-faced rubble with contrasting ashlar dressings and quoin strips. Base course (part raised). Hoodmoulded door. Shoulder- and round-arched openings. Stone mullions and chamfered arrises.
E (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: broad bowed conical-roofed bay to left of centre with entrance comprised of hoodmould over floreate-carved lintel, panelled timber door with 3-part fanlight and flanking windows; 1st floor with bipartite window under centre carved round-headed panel and small flanking windows; tripartite dormer window with billeted cornice and bowed roof above. Single windows to ground in flanking bays, further window to 1st floor right breaking eaves into dormerhead and shouldered wallhead stack at left. Lower, slightly set-back later bay to outer right with round-headed windows at ground and in mansard roof.
W ELEVATION: 5-bay elevation with canted outer bays and raised basement. Square windows to basement; irregular 7-light canted window at ground floor centre, flanking bays with tripartite windows with carved semicircular panel over centre lights and single windows to outer bays; regular fenestration to 1st floor, that to centre with carved panel as above and altered (mullion removed?), all breaking eaves into dormerheads. Bays 2 and 4 with tripartite dormer windows.
N ELEVATION: mansard-roofed extension.
S ELEVATION: altered elevation with variety of elements including fire escape and flat-roofed dormer.
4-pane and plate glass glazing patterns in timber sash and case windows. Graded grey slates. Coped ashlar stacks with cans. Deeply overhanging eaves with exposed rafters. Cast-iron downpipes with decorative rainwater hoppers and fixings.
