Description

Keith Park is a mid-19th century house with small extensions from the 20th century, located on Hatton Road in New Rattray. This two-storey, three-bay rectangular-plan house features a single-storey wing at the rear and sympathetic extensions. The exterior is harled with painted margins and stone cills, and it has a deep base course.

The principal elevation faces southeast and is symmetrical. The central bay on the ground floor has a swept roof over a rustic porch that leads to a modern door with an original small-pane margined fanlight above. There are windows in the flanking bays and regular fenestration on the first floor. To the outer left, there is a later single-storey bay that wraps around the corner, comprising a conservatory with a harled base and timber-transomed bipartites that angle towards a central French window with margined glazing.

The southwest elevation features a broad gabled design with a window to the outer left on the first floor. On the ground floor to the right, there is the conservatory with three continuous transomed bipartites and a piended roof, along with a small lean-to that projects in the re-entrant angle to the left.

The northwest (rear) elevation is single-storey with a T-plan office projecting from the centre of the asymmetrically fenestrated elevation. This side includes a large stair window in the centre and three slate-hung flat-roofed dormer windows above.

The northeast elevation is gabled with small casement windows on the left at each floor and an additional window to the right on the first floor. There are three continuous timber-transomed bipartites on the front and the left return of a piend-roofed extension that projects at the centre of the ground floor.

Most of the timber sash and case windows feature a 12-pane glazing pattern, while the stair window has leaded multi-pane glazing. The conservatory on the southwest and the northeast extension have timber multi-pane glazing. The roof is covered with grey slates, and the harled stacks are cavetto-coped with cans. The gable ends have overhanging eaves.

Inside, the house includes some decorative plasterwork cornicing, panelled shutters, and brass sash lifts. The hall floor is encaustic-tiled, and there is a winding stair with decorative cast-iron railings. The ground left at the southeast features a timber fire surround with a cast-iron grate and tiled cheeks, along with a wall cupboard that has decoratively-astragalled glazing.

The property is enclosed by rubble boundary walls.
