37-39 James Square, Crieff

37-39 James Square in Crieff is a two-storey and attic house, dating from the earlier to mid 19th century, which now serves as offices with shops on the ground floor. It is part of an irregular terrace that runs to the south. The building is constructed of red bull-faced squared rubble, accented with contrasting ashlar dressings, and features a cornice at the ground floor.

On the east elevation, there is a panelled timber door located off-centre to the left, with a traditional shop to the left and a modern shop to the right. The first floor has three evenly spaced windows, and above, there are two canted tripartite dormers flanking a small central rooflight.

The north elevation, facing West High Street, has a gabled end with a modern shop front at the ground level and a single window on the first floor. The windows throughout the building include 6-pane, 12-pane, and plate glass patterns in timber sash and case designs, with fixed display windows for the shops. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are coped harled stacks with thackstanes and cans, as well as ashlar-coped skews.
