62 Victoria Street, Kirkwall

62 Victoria Street in Kirkwall is a late 18th to early 19th century house that has undergone later alterations. It is a three-storey, three-bay (four-bay at ground level) rectangular-plan building with a nearly symmetrical design and a flat-roofed single-storey addition at the rear. The exterior is harled with plain cement margins around the openings, and the second-floor windows are positioned close to the eaves.

On the west (principal) elevation, there is a timber panelled door with a small-pane fanlight located in the central bay at ground level, with a window above on each floor. The outer left bay features a window on each floor, while the outer right bay has a window at each floor and an additional window at ground level to the right of the centre.

The north (side) elevation is blank and features a gablehead stack. The south (side) elevation has a deep-set door, offset to the left of centre, leading to the main gabled block, with a gablehead stack above. To the right, there is a modern part-glazed door with a window in each bay flanking the flat-roofed addition.

The windows are 12-pane timber sash and case style. The roof is covered with modern grey slate and has a stone ridge, while the gablehead stacks on the north and south are harled with cornices. The building predominantly features cast-iron rainwater goods.

The interior has been converted into a Health Information Centre on the ground floor, while the upper floors remain unseen and were last noted in 1998.
