Description
27 Victoria Street in Kirkwall is an 18th-century, two-storey house with later alterations. It has a rectangular plan and a gable end, and it is attached to another rectangular house at the rear. The exterior is harled with cement dressings, featuring a band course between the ground and first floors.
On the east gable elevation, there are three evenly spaced windows at the ground level and two evenly spaced windows on the first floor, with a gablehead stack above. The south entrance elevation is irregular and has four bays. In the central bay, there is a deep-set part-glazed timber door with a rectangular fanlight. To the left of the centre, there is a window on the first floor, and there are windows at each floor in the penultimate bay to the left. A small window is located at the ground level in the outer right bay.
The north side elevation is blank. The windows are timber sash and case, with configurations of 2, 4, and 12 panes. There are also small rooflights on the south pitch. The traditional roof is graded stone slate, featuring a stone ridge, stone skews, and a shield motif on the cavetto-moulded skewputts. The east gable has a harled, corniced stack, and there is a similar common stack on the west side. The property predominantly has uPVC rainwater goods. The interior was not seen during the last assessment in 1998.
