Description
33 Victoria Street in Kirkwall is an 18th-century house that has undergone later alterations. It is a two-storey building with an attic and a single-storey section, featuring a crow-stepped gable and a rectangular plan. The house has a stop-chamfered angle at the southeast corner and is linked to a single-storey shop at Number 31, which has a swept gable and three finials, although the shop itself is not listed. The ground floor is cement-rendered and lined, while the upper part is harled, with cement margins around the openings. There is a corniced fascia between the ground and first floors, along with an eaves course.
On the east gable elevation, there is a widened window offset to the right of centre at ground level, with a window above in the bay to the right. The gable features a stack. The south side elevation has a window at the stop-chamfered angle on the ground floor and three evenly spaced windows on the first floor. The north side elevation includes a single-storey, flat-roofed link to Number 35.
The building has modern two-pane windows and large uPVC shop windows. The roof is covered with modern grey slate and features a stone ridge, with a harled, coped gablehead stack on the east side and uPVC rainwater goods. The interior was not seen during the last inspection in 1998.
