Description
35 Victoria Street in Kirkwall is an 18th-century, two-storey, two-bay house that has been altered for use as a shop on the ground floor. The building has a rectangular plan and features a gable-ended design with a harled exterior.
The principal elevation faces east and includes a modern glazed door with large shop windows on either side, set within a deep entrance alcove that spans the ground floor. Above, there are two evenly spaced windows on the first floor. A gablehead stack is present above the roofline.
The ground floor has modern shop windows, while the first floor features replacement 12-pane timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered with grey slate and has a stone ridge, with a harled, coped gablehead stack on the east side and uPVC rainwater goods.
The interior has been converted for shop use on the ground floor, with the upper level remaining unseen since 1998.
