65 Alfred Street, Stromness

65 Alfred Street in Stromness is a later 19th century, two-storey, four-bay end-of-terrace house that has undergone some alterations. The building has an asymmetrical rectangular plan with its east gable facing the street. It is harled and features plain margins around the windows, as well as a long and short door surround.

On the south (principal) elevation, there is a modern timber panelled door with a large rectangular fanlight located in the bay to the left of the centre. Above this door, there is a window at the first floor. In the bay to the left, there is a window on each floor. The bay to the right contains a bipartite window at the ground level and a blocked single window at the first floor above. The outer right bay also has a window on each floor.

The east (street) elevation features a two-bay gabled wall. There is a window in the left bay on both floors. In the right bay, there is a window at ground level and a blocked window at the first floor, with a multi-flue gablehead stack above.

The windows are modern 12-pane timber sash and case. The roof is covered with Welsh slate and includes a stone ridge, a harled coped stack on the east gable, a coped concrete ashlar ridge stack, plain moulded cans, concrete skews, and uPVC rainwater goods.

The interior was not seen in 1997.
