69 Alfred Street, Stromness

69 Alfred Street in Stromness is a town house dating from around 1820, with later alterations and additions. It is a two-storey building with an attic and a symmetrical rectangular plan, situated on rising ground to the west. The exterior is harled with cement margins around the openings and features a base course.

On the east elevation, there is a stone step leading to a modern part-glazed timber panelled door, with a window above it on the first floor. Each bay has a window at both floors, flanking the entrance.

The south elevation includes an attic window to the right of the gablehead, which has a stack above it. The north elevation features a two-bay gabled wall, with a window at each floor and an attic window above in the left bay. There is also a ground floor window in the right bay.

The windows are timber sash and case, with 12 panes and 9 panes. The east pitch of the roof has three evenly spaced roof lights. The roof is covered with purple Welsh slate, has a stone ridge, concrete skews, coped harled stacks, moulded cans, and uPVC rainwater goods.

The interior was not seen during the last inspection in 1997.
